High Resolution Images

High resolution TIFF image

This feature allows you to download a preservation quality TIFF image of the image currently being viewed on screen. For bitonal images (i.e., black and white) these images are approximately 2.5 MB each. Using a standard dialup modem running at 56,000 bps these images may take almost six minutes to download. Using broadband connections this time is considerably reduced. Preservation quality versions of colour images are much larger, ranging from c.100MB to c.300MB. It is seriously not recommended to download these images using a dialup connection, as they may take up to 10 hours to download.
